Clean Mold From Window Sills

Take some dish washing detergent and water this will become your cleaning solution.

Let the resulting scummy mix of mold and remover stand for a few minutes. Often sashes are affected so start at the top and work down. Place undiluted white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the sills and frames. Make a mixture of one part bleach to three parts warm water.

Fill a bucket with 1 gallon warm water. Vinegar is a good option in cleaning black mould from these areas. Dip the brush in the bleach mixture often. However it can penetrate into the roots of the mold and can kill and remove all traces of mold.

Using a mixture of bleach and warm water scour moldy window frames and sills with a stiff nylon brush. Open a window or door so the mold spores can escape instead of staying locked in your home. Scrub the window sill with your mold remover. Tea tree oil is the best treatment for killing and tackling mold on window sills unfortunately it is the most expensive option too.

Saturate a clean cloth in the mixture and wring out the excess liquid. Scrub the mold off of the windowsill using a non abrasive brush and frequently dip the brush in the bleach mixture. Use a clean rag to then wipe away the mold you loosened. You ll want to grab some paper towels and apply the solution to sills and if it s hard to remove grab a plastic scraper to help loosen it and then apply more of your cleaning solution.

Wipe away the scraped mold and excess water with a clean rag. Allow the windowsill to dry. Scrub the black spots and then spray generously again. Add 1 cup borax to the water and mix thoroughly with a long handled spoon.

This is just one property of tee tree oil and is something you should have on hand at all times. Use old rags to mop up as you scrub away mold. While you are doing that empty your pail or get a new one and refill it with clean water. Although mold flourishes in a moist environment the spores will enter into the air as you re removing them so if you dampen the sills you re essentially gluing the existing spores down.

Scrub the windowsill clean with the damp cloth.
